Un'Olympico (oon-O-lim-P-co) – The Olympics

….first of all, sorry (mom) for no post yesterday….to be honest it wasn’t very exciting, and I went to be actually pretty early on account of the cold I could feel coming on (and the rain didn’t help my tired feeling)….but basically all that I did yesterday was go to school in the morning…then came home to nap…..after it was back to school to book trains to Rome with a friend….and then home to study….the night was simple as well….my normal after school rough house with Giacomo, and then Valentina and her boyfriend, Marco came over for dinner….that was really fun as always…this was the first time I met Marco and it was so great….he is very big Juventus fan and as soon as he heard that I was planning to go to a match next weekend, I think we sat at the table and talked about soccer for at least the next 45 minutes….it was great fun J  dinner was delish as well, zucchini and eggplant Milanese (I know dad, I was shocked too)….but I didn’t get to my posting last night because I took cough syrup right after dinner and of course was exhausted right away….
…today was another pretty calm day….i woke up with a heck of a cold, and therefore, continued to sleep until noon….which felt amazing!!....took my time waking up and getting ready in the morning….did a bit of studying and then I was off to downtown to do some errands….went to Vodafone to figure out how to get more minutes….then to do some shopping….which of course meant H&M, gotta love that the new spring collections are hitting the stores….and then of course I had to get some Gelato, because I think it is physically impossible or at least sacreligious to walk down Via Roma and not stop at Grom (my favorite gelato shop)…..and then it was ome for the Olympics!!
….I adore the Olympics!....and it is so werid that I had to watch the opening ceremonies at 5pm…then it dawned on me, that since I am so close to Russia, I actually had to watch them live J….and then as I was watching them, and cheering crazily for USA when they walked in….it was so weird to hear the announcing…and not because it was being announced in Italian (because I am used to tv that way by now) but because it wasn’t the voice of Bob Costas and Matt Lauer….its amazing how something like the Olympics that you make memories of because it’s annual (or in this case quad-annual) event, you get used to how they are run in the states…..also felt really weird because my host parents are not really into them….and I am used to them not even starting until 8pm and my mom and I staying up on the couch, eating great snacks and, by the end, basically holding our eyes open waiting for the torch....im so glad that they will be here soon, so that we can cheer for Team USA together and all will be right with the world J….
….well after the torch was lit, I headed off to my friend Natalie’s apartment to make dinner J…it’s a good trade off, she and Rebecca made dinner, Paolo brought cheese and breads, and after getting all turned around and lost in her neighborhood and finally finding a supermarket that was open, I brought wine….its a great way to spend an evening J
….final big point for this blog…ONLY 5 SLEEPS UNTIL MUM AND DADDY ARE IN TORINO!!!!! And well I am a little excited J…..i can count it on one hand!!!....i am so excited to show them this new home that I have found in Italy….and honestly, what I have learned that I can do….how much the one month that I have been living here has taught me…..Ive grown a lot since crying in Spokane, scared, and anxious about what this semester held for me….i cant wait to show them everything….its going to be such great fun….
…well that’s it for today, there wont be a post until Sunday afternoon because tomorrow in the morning we are off to Aosta for the day and night….it is the valley that is essentially between The Matterhorn and Mont Blanc (amongst other huge mountains)….I am totally excited J….cant wait to show you pictures of the Alps and tell you all the stories on Sunday…happy weekend everyone J….and most importantly……GO TEAM USA!!!!
