….today
I spent 7 hours speaking English to kids anywhere from 2 ½ to almost 6 years
old and it was literally one of the most fun days ever….so one of the best
parts about USAC in general, but specifically the Torino program is the amazing
amount of internship opportunities that we have…..just as a for instance, I didn’t
know that I even wanted to do an internship until I got here, and heard about
this awesome opportunity…so what I am doing this semester, is taking part in a
2 credit internship at a bilingual head start/kindergarten….so basically I am doing
90 hours of classroom, working with a main English teacher, but also creating
my own workshops with the kids to teach them English on my own….its super cool
and I am so glad that I am getting to do it, not only because I think being
able to put an international internship is a cool thing to put on a resume, but
also because I think its really neat to be able to teach English abroad….
….so
essentially every Tuesday from here on out, (with a few exceptions)…I will be
working at this school 9 to 4….long time, but it flies….today was my first day
and I was totally nervous!...but I showed up and shadowed the main English
teacher, who is originally from LA and even a BYU grad!....we went through the
classrooms really fast, having her show me basically, how much the kids knew,
so I knew what I had to work with…
...then we went to her room to have 2 longer classes of
older kids, to have a FULL English lesson…and let me just tell you that these
kids are so freaking smart!! Donna (the main English teacher) had the 4 year
olds having full entire conversations, asking each other what their name was,
how old they were, where they lived, what their favorite toy was and so on…I
literally was completely floored….these kids are so smart that it is
ridiculous!
....afterwards we all headed to “English” lunch….and oh
goodness this school food was so freaking good!...like 10 million times better than then states "hot lunch".....like honestly we had gnocchi
with tomato sauce, then chicken drumsticks and roasted fennel….so freaking
delish, I wanted to go again and again….
…after
lunch was one more group of big kids for extra English time….and then Donna
left and I moved downstairs to another new classroom, for mainly play time J
that was interesting….(INSERT HELP FROM MY SISTERS HERE – Since one of my
sisters is a head start teacher and another wants to be an early childhood
interventionist, I need some help…wanna send me ideas of what I can do with
these kids???? I am supposed to be creating little workshops of easy fun
lessons, or just mainly learning English through play…. Thank you I love you
guys!) This is where we stayed the rest
of the afternoon….playing legos or drawing or telling easy stories in english…..
…So
that was an awesome day and then this evening was pretty awesome too!....I came
home from work to study for Italian…..and then when all were done with classes,
Natalie, Rebecca and I went out for dinner to a fantastic little restaurant
near their place….and oh my goodness may I just tell you that that place will
become a go to….that is how freaking awesome it is….it was literally so
freaking delish!!…. taking the parents in a week that’s for sure too!!!
…By
the way, just in case anyone is wondering, MY PARENTS WILL BE IN TORINO IN A
WEEK!!!!!! But overall, today was a totally awesome day!.....a great way to
spend my day, its so cool to be in that school….the day totally flew away from
me, because I was having such fun J….I cant wait to go
back…..
…ok
readers so sorry, that this post is so short without any pictures…but its short
because that was literally my whole day, it flew and work and dinner were the only
really good things to write about haha….and well for another reason, I am
falling asleep as I write this, like honestly people I have never really
proofread my posts before, but this one I had to because Id be talking about my
day and then all of a sudden really random, unrelated things because Id start
talking about whatever my dreams are when I keep nodding off (so if there is
just a totally CRAZY confusing sentence, tell me and I apologize now haha)…..but
anyways, until tomorrow when I can focus enough to write better, just too too
tired right now J....bunoa
notte tutti! J
