…this
morning we got up a little later….checked out of the hotel and headed to the
district of town that held the Church of Saint Coeur (I know like Coeur d’
Alene, so cool J)…also
called the ghost church…it’s a catholic church up on the highest hill in paris,
in a kind of Byzantine design and its simply stunning…but the coolest part is
the stone it was made with, when the rain falls to calcifies so it gets whiter
& whiter the more it rains!J Its so cool@ its truly amazing because when you
see it, everywhere that gets hit but rain is perfectly clean and where, and anywhere
not hit is black with dirt! So werid! Also the inside is awe-inspiring…Mass was
going on at the time and I have no idea what was so big about this weekend but
there were 3 priests and 3 deacons! The church was sooo big it had screens in
it so people in the back could see
…the
view though from the front steps? Oh my goodness gracious!....i saw paris form
the sky at night but here during the day with a little haze was just breath
taking!! we sat for a long time here just people watching and listening to the
amazing group of 3 men singing….man they were incredibly…best street performers
I have ever heard….oh and we were taking in the amazing sun!!! it was soo HOT
out today I think my weather app said it hit 70 degrees@ J
we drank it in and loved it!!
…while
up in this area of the city, we also went to a bistro, sat outside and had
lunch….at many places in Paris (we were told) they have set daily menus that
have 2 courses and a dessert….here it was that for 14 euros…so we decided since
it was our last day and we hadn’t really gone “out” yet we would and it was a
great idea ;)…food was really good….
then French beef stew with,
believe it or not, French fries J, green beans and yams…it was sooo good,
then my
dessert was a crepe with orange, cocoa powder, and butter…yummy…we were in a
great spot where TONS of people were passing about, so the watching and weather
was perfect! J
…when
we had finished, we set off to walk a bit down the hill to find the Moulin
Rouge….because, well, we could J took our pictures and then since we had a couple
hours until we needed to head to the airport we hopped on the metro and went to
say goodbye to our dear Eiffel Tower J….we went to the stop by
the Louvre and walked the hourish ways down to the tower along the river….when
we got there, we were of course sweaty, so naturally we needed the ice cream J
(also since we cant get soft serve here in Italy) and man it was the
BEST!...
soft serve strawberry and lemon J we found some grass
under a tree and ate our ice cream, took some last pictures and relaxed about 30
minutes more before saying “Au Revoir” to one of my new favorite places in the
world and hopping on a train to the airport…
…the trains were no problem and perfectly enough, on our
last one on the way to airport, a man got on with his accordion (something
about someone playing that here in Europe just makes me so happy)…and he played
LA VIE EN ROSE!!!!.....thats my favorite song of all time….the absolute best
end to my weekend in Paris!...
…security
was a breeze J
(seriously, italy is the easiest, but all of European security seems to be so
cinch and kinda a joke compared to the US J) so how we’ve been
just sitting and waiting…enjoying the last few moments…I even found (Finally!)
a macaroon here in the airport to snack on (ive been looking all weekend)….and
it was delish….the perfect last bit of france…
…france has
definitely grown on me…im in love with the tower and their way of just always
sitting and either people watching or just hanging out J seriously its so nice
and relaxed….im so thankful I was able to kick this off my bucket list J
and add a new pin on my map of travels J
…well
perfect timing we are off to board our flight to Frankfurt, then home to torino….itll
be nice to be home…but man! Do I love to travel….my heart was born to see the
world that is for sure ;)
