Biscotti (bee-scott-E) – Cookies

…ok so this was actually supposed to be posted yesterday, but I got home kinda late and since today all that I have done, is sleep in, have lunch with the host family before they left for the mountain and then done homework all day long so not much exciting to post about, I figured this would do!

…yesterday was literally one of the most fantastically relaxing days….dont get me wrong I ADORE getting to travel all over every weekend, but I definitely love being a home body as well….there is something to be said about sleeping in until 11 (especially when you get up at 7:30am every morning for class), working out, taking a good long shower and then not really having plans for the rest of the day….and after two extremely busy traveling weekends, that was the perfect Friday…..and my plans for the rest of the day turned into teaching my host mom how to make my mom’s chocolate chip cookies J and going out for a great night with the girls…

….ok so when my mom and dad were in Turin, mom brought all the American ingredients and tools Eliana would need to make cookies, and so when I finally got out of the shower and went into the kitchen at like noon, Eli asked if I had plans, and when I said no, she asked if I would show her…..it was so much fun J….we figured out how to transfer the oven temperature into Celsius… and she said down with a pen and paper as I made the cookies off the top of my head (silently halving the normal mom batch J)…trying to explain what everything was, crisco was fun to try that with haha….she asked me a million times if it was able to be made with a mixer and I had no idea because I only knew one way to do it haha….she took her notes, which cup to use, when to stir….it was pretty adorable J…especially her eyes when she saw how I put in the chocolate chips (as many as will fit, right mum?)….baked with silicon mats instead of pans in a tiny oven…it was all so different but so much fun….after I explained what Crisco was as I put it in, then added the sugar, her eyes got wide and said, these are not for the diet apparently…..uuhhhh no, but if they were EVERYONE would diet!.....

…she test tasted the dough and I think she fell in love then J….we waited and waited and waited for them to bake, and when they came out, she tried her first, warm and gooey cookies, her eyes lit up and all I could hear was “Buonissimo” J….it was so fun J….i think we each had about four before the second pan was even out J….it was a delicious morning J…..it was so cool to show her that, and teach her how to do something that is so classically my mom….just the taste of the cookie dough, and the smell of them baking, it was home….so nice to be able to feel that from 5500 miles away….
 J….

Rebecca may have a slight
obsession with the store own-
ers dog :)
….after we made the cookies, I was off with Natalie and Rebecca to a leather shop for Natalie to finally find the perfect Italian Leather coat that she has been waiting to find…and while I was there, I found the bag…its beautiful and real Italian leather…we were both very happy girls….then we were off to apertivo at the same wine bar that mom, dad and I went to those few times….Danny recognized me right off (unfortunately Gabri wasn’t there) and we all had a great night….we were served the raw veal, again….and we ate it, again….i think I may be getting used to it lol because I didn’t really mind it this time hahaha…..but we ordered one glass of wine, and when we were finished we were getting up to head out, and Danny came over and filled our glasses again, and then when they were getting low again, he filed them up a bit more and brought us some small sandwiches that weren’t even with the apertivo foods….then after a while he brought sprits drinks for us, toasted with us….it was so much fun, we were there for about 3 hours, and only paid each for 1 apertivo glass of wine each…..it was so so so much fun
…when we were finally done and paid…we headed back to Natalie’s house to hang out, we woke up their other roommate Katylin, and all hung out and just had a great time, just good talks and laughs….it was totally perfect J ….

…they are off to Dublin today for St. Patty’s day weekend….and I have the apartment to my house tonight….planning to just do a lot of homework tonight, skyping some friends back home and just totally relaxing J loving it ….one more week of stuff to get done…..then one week from today, my boy is in ITALY!!! Totally cant wait J….hope everyone’s weekends are turning out just wonderfully J Buon Weekend!
