Pisa – (pee-saa) – city famous for a poorly built building in Tuscany

….well after a great visit to Cinque we were off and onto the next stop on our Easter vacation, Pisa….I had already been to Pisa and seen the tower, but Kaitlyn hadn’t so we made it a stop….I didn’t mind though it ended up being a really fun stop J….
…we took a new type of train for me, it had more like rooms with about 6 seats in it…it was an intercity train and it was super comfortable which was really nice J…but in our car this time there was a really nice couple from Australia, and the wife was really really chatty…which was nice, except Kait and I really wanted to sleep…but she was telling us all these things about their trip and how they got here, and all sorts of things…funny the people you meet on trains….we did although pass these really werid looking mountains on the way…and the nice lady asked one of the guys in our room who was Italian, what they were, and come to find out they were the mountains that they mine the Carrara Marble from….we went through the town of Carrara….that was kinda cool, I had no idea that was where it was from J
…anyways when we got to Pisa, it was a really short walk to our hostel, so we checked in, dropped off our stuff and were off to the tower…in Pisa (and also in Cinque) it was so weird of a feeling to stand in the same place twice…..to be in places that I NEVER dreamed I would ever get to go back to….to go to a gelato place that my mom and I got gelato from, or walk streets that I had walked with my parents 3 years earlier, it was so so cool….
…I actually really like Pisa, and the tower because its so amazing to me….it really really is leaning…like intensely!!...i finally got to take my leaning picture with it too and that was really fun….i never took it the last time I was there (I took a normal holding it up picture too but I lost it when I lost my phone)…but this time I did it with a twist J….we had so much fun just sitting and taking tons and tons of pictures, Kaitlyn literally took every single type she could think of….i was taking them all for her, and nat was sitting there taking pics of people taking their pictures….it was really entertaining too….this older lady using her cane was our personal favorite J….

….we took our time and got some lunch and after went back to our hostel to hang out for a bit and rest before I went to Good Friday mass at the Basilica there….and while we were home I facebooked mom (like I usually do when im in wifi) and she asked if I had gone up the tower, and I told her that I was going to but it was 18 euros and the budget for this trip was too tight for that, so being the awesome mom she is, she told me to go make a memory and put money in my account for it J….so I took off, and went to buy my ticket!....I wasn’t able to get a spot to go up right away so I bought it for after mass and waited J

…I went to church in the basilica that night at about 6…and it was so so cool, the Bishop said it with 10 priests and 6 altar servers…it was sooo amazing to not only see it in a church that big but to see that many priests!!....absolutely inspiring really J…
…and then I had to leave church a bit early to take off to go up the tower with my ticket time….i had to first go put my bag in their little deposit room and then waited in line a bit before getting my chance to go up….
…so we started and I could already feel that hike from the day before in my legs but I didn’t think was that bad, so I started up thinking , oh ya I can do this…..and then it got a bit harder…and then really hard!....and then super easy again…..and then hard!....then easy…..it took me a bit to figure out that I was feeling the lean of the tower….it was amazing, you could totally feel when you were going uphill with the tower and when you were basically walking on flat because you were on the downhill side…..sooo crazy to feel…..also the marble of the stairs was so worn from the years and years it was really hard to climb up them!....
…but man the top was awesome J I got up there right as the sun was setting and I loved it!....it was really cool to go up there because probably its going to be something that they will stop letting people do soon, like my kids probably wont be able to walk up it…..to feel the tilt at the top…it was absolutely nuts….i love the tops of towers, but this was a really neat one to get to climb to the top of….

….when I finally had to come down from marveling at the top, I walked back to the hostel to meet up with nat and Kaitlyn, then we went out to grab something for dinner and grabbed some wine from an adorable little shop that was like Italy and let u buy a bottle and then fill it with one of the 6 or so different types she had, and it was really inexpensive so it was great….we enjoyed and had a great night…..then it was off to bed…

…the next morning was an early train, so we were up, stopped for a cappuccino and then on a train to Florence…..2nd city down….and off to somewhere I had never been J….always love that feeling…
